Changes to Accessing Microsoft 365 F1 and F3 Mailboxes

Microsoft has announced that support for Exchange Web Services (EWS) for Microsoft 365 F1 and F3 licenses will end on June 30, 2026.

As of this date, access to mailboxes via EWS will no longer be possible for users with only an F1 or F3 license.

Some applications and services currently use EWS to access mailbox data. This includes certain backup solutions for protecting Microsoft 365 mailboxes, such as Pink Elephant’s service. Therefore, the protection of mailboxes with F3 licenses may be affected once EWS is discontinued.

Microsoft is transitioning to the Microsoft Graph API as the modern and supported access method for Microsoft 365 services.

Pink Elephant is already preparing to support this new access method. Our backup services will be switched to a Graph API-based access, which is expected to be available in summer 2026.
